Resist the Devil and he Will Run!!!

January 17, 2024, 10:00 AM

James 4:7 says " So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Christians have the idea that if you serve God and do God's plan and will for your life then the devil is going to beat you up. I hear things like "I must be doing something right because the devil sure is fighting me". This is so far from the truth of the Word of God! James writes in his epistle to resist the devil, that means to do the opposite of what Satan wants you to do. James starts by saying in verse 7 of chapter 4 "humble yourselves before God". In other words get close to God, get to know Him. Serve Him and then he goes on to say "resist the devil" and then he states a promise from the Father. " the devil will flee from you". Satan has no choice but to leave you alone. Of course not all our troubles and problems are from Satan, most of them are self induced. But, let's focus on the power the Father gives us in Jesus name. It's one thing to know Jesus and it's another to know you have power in Jesus name. James continues in the same chapter in verse 8 and says "Come close to God and God will come close to you" the closer we get to God the closer He comes to us makes no room for Satan and his demons in our lives. I encourage you to read James chapter 4 and just bask in the words of Jesus brother James. Let's make it a priority to get close to God so that there is no room for Satan and his demons in our lives.

Love you.
